Foxfield Colliery Appeal
Progress on reopening the ¾ mile section from Dilhorne Park to our Foxfield Colliery terminus has been considerable in the last two years. Last open to passenger trains in the early 1980s, the notoriously steep Foxfield Bank section of the line has had major repairs carried out. Meanwhile a dedicated team of members has been carrying out site clearance and building repairs at Foxfield Colliery itself.
The current phase of the project is to allow trains to run on the Foxfield Bank section of the line once more and to make the site safe for public access.
The full project will see platform improvements, the winding house roof replaced, iconic headgear restored, a museum established and a return of passenger trains to this section.
Having recently spent over £20,000 to support the project the Society now needs your financial support to raise the full £250,000 required to complete the current phase of the project.
